A life lived to the end

Dad had a very long and varied life.  Conscripted to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers during the Second World War and serving in India he returned to England in 1946.  He married Hazel in 1949.  He moved to Exeter to teach disabled adults to enable them to get jobs.  He then became a technical draftsman working on many things including one of the very first UK calculators.  Away from work Dad loved his garden in Bishops Stortford and then in retirement in Burghill.  The garden was the envy of his children and those that lived around him.  He was gardening into the final year of life.  He had many too many hobbies to list them all but home brew beer was one of his most popular.  He was the manager and chairman of a successful youth football club in Bishops Stortford.  When he moved to Burghill he volunteered at the Hereford Steam Museum and the Modellers both down at Broomy Hill - he even found time to play golf!  In the later years he cared for Mum when she developed dementia ensuing that she could stay in the home that they both loved until her death in 2017.

In his final year he was still driving his car, able to order his shopping online and never failed to tell his children that someone had told him "how good he looked for his age!"

He leaves behind 3 children and their partners, 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who will all miss him dearly.
